Spring Cleaning
Handy Clearing Tips:
- Set boundaries: Use the 1 in 1 out rule: if your bookshelf
is full, get rid of one book before buying another.
- Only handle items once.
- Reduce the number of times jobs are done: Multi-task, create a routine.
- Choose what to do with items: Keep (where? - preferably where it's
most needed and accessible). OR Sell (advertise in local shop, newspaper,
Admag, on
eBay or at a local auction).
- For Car Boot Sale: Designate space in your loft, garage or an out-
of- the- way area until there is enough to sell or you are ready.
- For Charity Shop: Bag up, label and take the next time you pass one.
- For Recycling: Create a system of boxes for specific items i.e. glass,
paper, tins etc.
- Pass items on to a friend or relative: "One person's rubbish
is another person's treasure".
- Rationalise: Designate specific areas for certain items where they
will be most useful and accessible.
- Do a little at a time: Tackle what you feel comfortable with i.e.
cupboard, room or garage.
- Get help! Have friends round and get them to clear that clutter -
they may take some away for you...
- Bring balance to your life: Clear out, relax, start a regular physical
activity and socialise.
- Don't put off 'till tomorrow what can be done today...
Remember,
"Have nothing
in your home except what you believe to be beautiful or know to be useful".
William Morris.
